Long-awaited liquor store opens in Salt Lake City’s Foothill neighborhood

Store replaces temporary location that’s been operating in the Foothill Village Shopping Center

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – After operating at a temporary location for five years, a new state liquor store in Salt Lake City’s Foothill neighborhood at 1615 S. Foothill Drive opens on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. Shoppers can expect to find 23 doors of refrigeration and a Proudly Utah section dedicated to local, made-in-Utah products.

“The DABS is excited to open the new Foothill store to better serve this tight-knit community and support all Utahns through the revenue it generates that goes directly to state and local services and programs,” said Tiffany Clason, executive director of the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services.

Clason says the new store’s anticipated revenue in state fiscal year 2026 (begins July 2025) is $7.3 million. Of those sales, nearly $3 million will go to state and local governments, helping to keep taxes low for all Utahns by funding services such as roads and transportation, public safety, education and health.

The 13,230 square foot store is only the second state liquor store to have two floors, similar to the new downtown Salt Lake City location. The new store replaces the existing Foothill store located at 1414 Foothill Dr., Salt Lake City, which permanently closes on March 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
