What We Ask of You

Focused, High-Quality Submissions
Please submit only your strongest new item proposals within the focus categories. Submitting large numbers of items in hopes that one might be selected is not an effective strategy. Fewer, more thoughtful submissions will allow for a higher-quality evaluation process.

Focus Categories for Fall 2025

For Fall 2025, the DABS will concentrate on ten (10) categories that currently have the highest percentage of unproductive SKUs and represent areas where Utah’s assortment is underdeveloped compared to broader markets:

  •  Pre-Mixed: Includes FMBs, hard seltzers, hard lemonade, malt-based RTDs
  • Liqueurs
  • Tequila
  • American Whiskey
  • Flavored Whiskey
  • Rosé (focus on premium)
  • Sparkling Wine (particular focus on premium domestic, Cava, and Franciacorta)
  • French White Wines (particular focus on Rhone and Loire Valley)
  • French Red Wines (particular focus on Loire Valley and the $30-49.99 price band across regions)
  • Italian Red Wines (particular focus on $30-49.99 price band)

The DABS will conduct both a delisting and a listing process for these categories, aiming to maintain the overall SKU count. The number of new items listed will not exceed the number of items delisted. Opportunities to make “trades” will be considered.

If you have a new item with time-sensitive launch needs outside these focus categories, you may still submit a listing application. However, please include strong rationale explaining why it should be considered as an exception.

Evaluation Metrics

Evaluations will be based on the following performance metrics:

  • FY 24/25 Dollar Sales – measuring overall revenue impact
  • FY 24/25 Dollars per Store per Day – linking revenue performance to shelf space
  • FY 24/25 Dollar Growth vs. Year Ago (YA) – assessing momentum and trends

Each metric will be assigned a point score. Dollar sales and dollars per POD (point of distribution) will be ranked, and growth will be evaluated as either positive or negative.

The DABS will conduct multiple evaluation stages—at the total category, price band, and subcategory levels—and triangulate these results to finalize delisting decisions.
